Tomi Hanzek PhotoHey, my name is Tomi Hanzek and I live in the beautiful city of Vancouver, Canada with my equally beautiful and lovely wife, Bianca.

Ever since I could hold a crayon, I loved to draw. Over the years, as my skills developed and advanced, so did the tools I used. They ranged from pencils, pens, and paint brushes to digital tablets, touch-screens, and complex computer graphics programs. The implements may have changed over time, but my enthusiasm and love of art never has.

I have also been playing video games for as long as I could remember, and eventually I decided to try my hand at creating some myself. Graphic art and design work had never quite felt much like work to me, since it was just the logical extension of my ever-evolving artistic skills.

Later, I would begin design work on real-world structures instead of ones only for the virtual world. My artistic versatility grew as I gained basic technical skills in architectural design, drafting, and construction, then applied them to my pre-existing creativity and knowledge.

Throughout all of this, I may have been an even more avid fan of comic books than video games, so I decided to merge the two with my first fictional work; a comic about video games. I have always enjoyed writing and storytelling, so coupling that with my fondness for illustration, creating and designing digital graphic novels proved to be an incredibly fun outlet for me.

This all led me to my current work; my first novel. Though it has yet to be completed, the science fiction/fantasy adventure is my most ambitious work to date. It will hopefully be finished in 2018, and thankfully, I’m well on my way to achieving that goal. I am also hard at work on creating an independent exploration/adventure video game with my brother Kris, entitled Gizmo’s Adventure. I am the visual director on this project, which primarily entails character and environment modeling/design.

Outside of my work, art or otherwise, I enjoy swimming, surfing, snorkeling, playing tennis, hiking, fishing, bowling, skiing and golfing. Reading an engrossing book, watching an interesting documentary or exciting film with family and friends is also something which I greatly enjoy.
